Trees from Pique Rouge Maisons

Delighted to announce that the first organic trees are now available from our neighbours Paul and Veronique at Pique Rouge.

These are one year old grafted fruit trees. We will be at the Marche de l’Arbre on the 6th December in Carcassonne should you wish to order from Paul, we can deliver your order. Also we will continue with the Organic Market in Narbonne every Saturday, Slow Food festival on the 13th December in Elne and the the Le Bolou Marche de Terra in late December.

We planted one of Paul’s Mimosa trees on our garden last Autumn, Mimosa was my grandmother’s favourite trees, it has grown from a thirty centimetre sapling to over a metre and a half in less than twelve months and looks set to flower this Spring.  I cannot recommend his trees high enough.

Pique Rouge is like us in the commune of Maisons. where as we are at the limits of the commune on Mont Tauch, Pique Rouge is at the other extreme on the slopes of the Massif des Corbieres. Paul and Veronique have transformed the old abandoned vineyards, fenced in the land and terraced the hills. He has a small poly tunnel but like us believes that trees and plants are best grown outdoor so that they are already acclimatised and ready to grow from day one. These organically grown trees are already hardened to the climate of the Midi. Below is just a small selection of what will be available. Each variety is chosen for its unique flavour and it’s suitability for a Midi climate.
