Mylène Vesentini
It is with great sadness that I learnt of Mylene Vesentini death, alongside that of her lovely husband Bernard in a tragic road accident on Sunday. They were on the road heading for Coursan to finish off packing the trucks to go to Paris for the Fete de l’Huma when a car that inexplicably was on the wrong side of the road knocked the off their motorbike, neither survived.
Mylene, a long time communist activist, trade unionist, head of the Aude Communist Party and Regional Councillor was a warm and passionate militant. A strong feminist and anti racist and defender of workers rights, her and Bernard were at the heart of the welcome in the Aude of refugees; housing, feeding and supporting those who for no fault of their own had to leave their country to seek shelter here in France.
They will be a sad lose for all those involved on the Left and the trade union world. Mylene had one of those smiles that lit up any room she was in, a ready laugh and a big heart. Bernard was a gentle giant, always quick to lend a hand or give a word of encouragement. one of those men it is just a pleasure to know.
Our condolences to their family, children, grand children, comrades and friends.
The world has lost a little bit of it’s light and warmth with their passing.

Mylène et Bernard Vesentini sont décédés ce dimanche matin dans un accident de la route alors qu’ils circulaient en moto. Ils allaient participer à l’organisation du stand des communistes audois et ariégeois à la fête de l’Humanité.
Ils étaient des parents, des grands-parents, des frères et sœurs, aimants et attentifs, des militants intègres et passionnés. Mylène étaient la secrétaire de notre fédération, membre du conseil national de notre parti. Elle était conseillère régionale, responsabilité qu’elle exerçait avec passion. Elle s’investissait sans compter dans ses différents responsabilités. Elle continuait à militer au syndicat CGT en disant qu’il fallait marcher sur ses deux jambes politique et syndicale.
Elle était surtout pleine d’humanité désintéressée. Quelque soit le lieu où elle se trouvait, elle défendait la cause des femmes, elle combattait tous les racismes, elle prenait le parti des réfugiés et des laissés pour compte.
Nombreux sont les démunis qu’avec Bernard ils auront accueillis sans plus se préoccuper de leur confort personnel. Et Bernard n’était pas en reste, quelquefois râlant, toujours présent et heureux de cette effervescence. Nous les aimions et les respections. Ils étaient la vie, profondément communistes. Ils vont laisser un vide considérable qu’il sera difficile de combler
Au nom de tous les communistes audois, nous présentons à leurs enfants Jérémie et Anne-Laure, Amandine et Nicolas, à leurs petites filles Amélia et Eleanore, à leurs frères et sœurs, à leurs familles, nos condoléances, notre amitié fraternelle et les assurons de notre soutien et de notre solidarité.
