Slow Food Roussillon last Sunday. The first Petite Marche at Baixas was a lovely day of food, wine and talks. Slow Food Roussillon is really a celebration of the history of Catalan cuisine and culture, the association works closely with traditional farmers trying to re introduce historical Catalan farming techniques and varieties of animals, as well as producers of traditional products, local wines and recipes. Slow Food, as opposed to Fast Food, is an interesting mix of local, predominantly organic, producers, Catalan nationalists, and food lovers. For some reason, despite living in the Aude, and obviously not being a Catalan, they have taken a shine to me and the warm welcome I received not just by the organisers but also from the public is superb, better English than French I guess.
