Organic Sweet Thyme Thymus vulgaris ct. linalol is a variety of Thyme manipulated to maximise the concentration of Linalol essential oil yield for commercial growers.
The chemotype (ct.) linalool is preferred because it’s versatile, has a long history of use in clinical aromatherapy, and is more compatible with skin applications because it’s considered nonirritating.
Thyme linalol is probably the most popular thyme essential oil having powerful antiseptic, antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal properties. Few oils are as useful as thyme linalol when there’s an internal infection of some sort, or when “flu” or other contagious conditions are a threat.
Thymus vulgaris ct. linalol Growing Guide
Organic Sweet Thyme Thymus vulgaris ct. linalol is a sun loving undemanding plant. It is highly resistant to disease and does not need any particular soil preparation. It likes well drained soil, indeed sitting in damp soil is the only way I know to kill thyme, it’s roots rot. If you are growing for cutting or drying or distilling I find that a Spring watering with Organic comfrey concentrate and a folllowing appliance in Autumn allows for two harvest per year.
Reproducing Thymus vulgaris ct. linalol
You can grow Organic Sweet Thyme Thymus vulgaris ct. linalol from seed; if you can find a good seed supplier. However I find the best way to get tried and tested new plants is to take tip cuttings when the plan, starts to grow in Spring, and sometimes when it restarts to grow after a harvest.
