The Foire Agricole Mouthoumet is this Saturday, 3rd September, in well, Mouthoumet.Le Ni
With the raising of the COVID rules the festival is back in the village, which is a great relief. It really marks the end of the summer madness, and hopefully will be sunny but without the baking heat we have had all summer. Well fingers crossed anyway. Optimism of the will; if not a bit of pessimism of the intellect and all that Gramscian stuff.
The increase in the number of small producers in the area, particularly in horticulture, herbs, and pastoralism, means that this festival is really beginning to take off. Every year the range and quality of the local produce on offer increases as more small producers move into the area.
All three pépiniéristes. from Maisons will be there so you will have the trees of Piques Rouge, Sam’s beautiful flowers and plants and the herbs from Montrouch, which are perfect for planting in the months to come, now that the heat of summer is hopefully behind us.
Also last week a new restaurant, Le Nidtable https://www.tourisme-corbieres-minervois.com/restaurants/le-nidtable/opened in Mouthoumet; so I will certainly be taking a good look at that, it promises local dishes made will local produce.
