Organic Snowdrift Thyme

Organic Snowdrift ThymeOrganic Snowdrift Thyme, Thymus serpyllum ‘Snowdrift’, is a ground cover thyme that can spread to around half a square metre. Another Thyme for a dry garden “lawn” that will protect the soil and support bees and other beneficial insects. The Summer flowers are later than most Thymes and are a refreshing white amidst all the yellows of a hot Summer

The RHS describe it as “An evergreen, mat-forming sub-shrub. Finely-hairy, trailing stems bear linear to elliptic to oval mid-green leaves. Whorls of two-lipped white flowers are borne in summer” which is a lot better than anything I could come up with.

Disease resistant, low water consumption, likes sun, can survive frosts. Best in well drained soil, ,it does need a bit of water the first Summer and in times of drought. Best planted in Autumn, like most Garrigue plants.

Reproduction of Organic Snowdrift Thyme

Best done by lifting out the rooted side shoots in Spring. I am sure you can buy seeds, but really why would you if you can get hold of a mother plant?
