Montrouch Organic

Montrouch Organic

Hi from Caroline Coles and pete Shield from the Domaine de Montrouch,  we are a small organic aromatic herb farm in the High Corbieres region of the Aude, a department in the Languedoc Roussillon, deep in the South of France.

We grow a wide range of aromatic and medicinal herbs, some flowers and some allotment plants- all are 100% organic. Our passion is  Mediterranean plants but we keep experimenting and are slowly building up a wide and deep range of aromatics from around the world.

I post up all the special organic and flower markets we are doing in the region on our Calendar.

Caroline does the Organic market in Narbonne every Saturday, 7am to 1pm, just outside of les Halle besides the canal de Robin.

We also do the Tuesday morning market in St Laurentd de Cabarisse and the Tuesday marke in Paziols, he roving Sunday marke in Durban Corbieres, St Jean de Barou, Villeseques des Corbieres, and Villeneuve des Corbieres. In Spring we can also be found in the Friday marke in Laroques de Fa.

We do all he local organic festivals, many plant festivals in he Aude and the PO, as well as Nature et Progres events and Confederaion paysanne events.

We live off grid, which can be interesting in winter.

  1. Thanks for the comment and link, Stephanie. I was wonedring why all the sites I got from my searches ended up in this region. Now I know. A quick (and bad) translation of what you sent: Carasses are rafts in Occitan, so presumably you won’t find this street name anywhere outside Languedoc. The profession might have started as long ago as the 13th century, and involved hauling lumber (and other things?) down the rivers to either the sea, or the Canal du Midi (after the 17th century). The profession died out in the 19th century, with the introduction of the train.Gerry

  2. Pete, hi. It is Ruth. I just wanted to say that I saw this amazing Opera called Anna Refugjati last night. Valletta is city of culture for Europe. This is the most amazing Opera I’ve seen in years. I wanted to share Pete because I know you would love it. My passion is to welcome the refugees who enrich our lives and bring vital skills to a small nation. This Opera is bleak and dark and describes the European fear of challenges to our preconceptions. You have to get behind this project. It is truly awesome. Hi Caroline. All your eco farming looks amazing. I’m rescuing cats now. Sorry. It isn’t very significant except for the cats.. Pete you are so bloody awesome everything you do. R xxx
