The Prades Plants and Flower Spring festival agenda looks great. A great crew of organic and conventional plant growers from all over the Languedoc are desending for what should be a superb day next Sunday. As well as our range of organic aromatic plants and flowers we will also be selling Caroline’s gluten free pizza and rich fruit cake.

Participation Libre Quarts d’heure botaniques avec Leïla Smaïl : Tours botaniques de la foire pour présenter des clés de reconnaissance des grandes familles végétales à travers les magnifiques exemples sur les stands.
9 h et 13 h.
Quarts d’heure entomologique avec Elise Monsieux : A la recherche des insectes présents sur les stands et les abords proches de la foire.
10 h et 14 h.
Land art avec Caroline : Créez du beau avec des éléments de notre nature. Toute la journée. Quart d’heure semencier avec Ugo van Hulsen (Réseau Semences Paysannes, Nature & Progrès) : « Un hybride F1 c’est quoi en fait ? ». Débat suivra. 11h et 15h.
Le Hot Club de Tordère nous régalera de Jazz Nouvelle Orleans. Fin de matinée et milieu d’après-midi.
Démonstration de formes anciennes de Kung Fu et de Taï Ji Quan pour le ravissement des yeux avec Corinne Wang (Association Zhong Shi, 06.18.53.73.80). 11h, 13h30, 16h.

StephP. Well done Richard for opening the dsicusison. Prades is fading fast. Who wants to go and shop or promenade there now? Who will come to live in the new-build houses? PO has made the inspired decision to sponsor public transport so it would now be possible to live in Prades and work in Perpignan, but the benefits of a small town community are no longer there so why would you do it?Very sad to see such a rapid decay in the infrastructure and the spirit of the town. A panoply of small businesses keeps a place dynamic and alive, but unless you encourage them and foster them, nowadays people don’t have the total commitment it needs to make a small business work. Not that people are lazy -but if you have the skills to run a business it is much more rentable to work for somebody else in a larger enterprise and be free of the heavy responsibilities and time commitments and enormous cotisations of self employment.Thuir has consistently been vibrant and attractive for the past 40 years and Ille sur Tet has gradually pulled itself up over the past ten years. How did they do it?
Couldn’t agree more. I was over in Prades in May for a plant festival and the similarities between Prades and Lezignan really struck me too. The centre has a huge potential, it needs an proactive Mayor to revitalise what is a beautiful square, and stop the out of town developments that are sucking it dry.
