Fête de l’Enquant 2017 Argeliers

To celebrate the tenth Fête de l’Enquant Argeliers are organising a local producers market to run alongside the annual wine auction. As it is over the Aude in the Minervois, and it is on a Monday, when Caroline was invited we agreed to give it a go. It is a new clientele, probably about 90% tourist but it sounds like a good laugh.
Le 14 août, nous soufflerons les bougies des 10 ans de la Fête de l’Enquant. Cette année marque également les 110 ans de la révolte viticole de 1907.
Cet évènement rassemblant chaque année de plus en plus de monde se déroulera pour la première fois sur la journée entière, dès 9H00, mêlant des défilés de voitures anciennes, un vide grenier, des espaces de jeux pour enfants, un grand marché de circuits courts, sans oublier la traditionnelle vente aux enchères et les différentes bodegas ainsi que les spectacles de rue.
Entre amis ou en famille, c’est l’évènement a ne surtout pas manquer !
It could be a compete bordel, but they seem well organised, and friendly, always a good sign. You can always tell if the organisers know what they are doing, if when you get there at some ungodly hour in the morning and there is are flasks of coffee available for the stand holders then it is going to be a good day. If there is nothing you are dealing with complete idiots and you may as well turn round and go home. If you can’t get the coffee right there is a very high change your publicity is none existent, there is no decent food at lunchtime, and only the Mayor , and the organiser’s family is going to turn up.There you go, Pete’s profound philosophy on village festivals.
